Platinum pull rates
A Platinum booster pack holds 10 cards. In Platinum, a Shiny (SH) turns up in about 1 in 33 packs (about 1.1 in 36 packs), and one specific Shiny (SH) is about 1 in 100 packs; a Rare Secret turns up in about 1 in 50 packs (about 0.7 in 36 packs), and one specific Rare Secret is about 1 in 150 packs.
These are estimates for a typical Diamond & Pearl and Platinum era pack, from community-tracked openings. Treat them as approximate: The Pokémon Company does not publish pull rates.

Is opening Platinum packs worth it?
At today’s prices the cards in an average Platinum pack are worth about $50.58 (€39.69), and a sealed pack costs about $389.74 (TCGplayer market). Sealed packs of a set this old sell as collectibles, so what the cards inside are worth says little about opening one. Every card counts at its market price here, including bulk that is hard to sell, so what you would really get is lower.
