Trading rules & safety
How trading on Senseiset works, how to ship cards so they arrive as they left, and what gets an account banned.
Every trade is between two collectors
Senseiset only helps collectors find each other. Every trade is made directly between the two people involved, as private individuals (consumer to consumer). Senseiset is not a party to any trade: it does not hold, check, ship, buy or sell cards, it never handles money, and it does not guarantee any trader, card, description, grade or delivery.
To the extent the law allows, Senseiset and Peaceful_William are not responsible for loss, damage, late or missing deliveries, counterfeit or misdescribed cards, payments, or disagreements between traders. You trade at your own risk and are responsible for following the law, including customs and postal rules. Nothing here limits rights you have that cannot be limited by agreement.
Before you agree a trade
- Look at the trader. Completed trades and ratings are shown next to their name, with how long they have had an account. Be careful with a new account and a valuable card.
- Agree everything in Senseiset messages: which cards, their printing and condition or grade, who sends first, how, and who pays postage. A written agreement is what you can point to if something goes wrong.
- Ask for photos of the actual cards, front and back, in good light. For a graded card, check the certificate number on the grading company's own website.
- Who sends first: the newer trader, or both on the same day with tracking. For valuable trades, meet in person or swap in stages.
- Cash top-ups: only ever as agreed in the post, and with a payment method that offers buyer protection. Never pay as a gift to "a friend" to save fees, and never send passwords or sign-in codes to anyone.
- Walk away from pressure: urgency, a deal that is too good, a request to move to another app at once, or to pay outside what the post says.
Shipping cards safely
- Every raw card goes in a penny sleeve and then a top loader (or a semi-rigid card saver). This is the minimum, for every card, every time.
- Close the top loader with a team bag or a strip of painter's tape across the opening, so the card cannot slide out. No tape on the card or sleeve itself.
- Put the top loaders between two pieces of stiff cardboard, held with a rubber band or tape, so nothing bends.
- Send in a padded (bubble) mailer, not a plain envelope. Graded slabs go wrapped in bubble wrap in a small box, with nothing loose inside.
- Use tracked shipping for anything you would be upset to lose, and add insurance for valuable cards. Keep the receipt and tracking number and share it in the conversation.
- Photograph the cards and the packed parcel before it is sealed.
- Do not write "Pokémon" or "trading cards" on the outside of the parcel.
- Abroad: fill in the customs declaration truthfully. The receiver may have to pay import charges, so agree on that first.
Meeting in person
Meet in a public place in daylight, such as a card shop or café, and bring someone with you. If you are under 18, trade only with a parent or guardian's agreement and never meet someone alone.
Describing your cards
Describe printing, condition and grade honestly, using the condition names in the app, and show any flaw in the photos. Proxies, reprints and fakes may never be offered as real cards.
What gets an account banned
Breaking these rules can get a post removed and an account suspended from Senseiset, without warning for anything serious. That includes:
- scams: not sending what was agreed, sending something else, or misdescribing a card on purpose;
- offering counterfeit cards, or proxies without saying so;
- harassment, threats, hateful or sexual messages, or pressure;
- spam, advertising, or posts that are not real trades (selling-only posts, links to shops);
- several accounts, fake trades or ratings, or trading ratings for favours;
- publishing someone else's personal details.
Fraud may also be a crime: you can report it to the police in your country.
Ratings
When both of you have confirmed a trade in the conversation, each of you can rate the other: positive, neutral or negative, with a short comment, for up to 60 days. Rate the trade, not the person. Ratings that are retaliation, bought, swapped or abusive are removed.
If something goes wrong
- Talk to the other trader first, in the conversation, and keep it calm and factual.
- Use Report on the post or conversation. A reviewer can remove posts and suspend accounts, and will read a conversation you report. Senseiset cannot get cards or money back.
- For a cash top-up, use your payment provider's buyer protection. For theft or fraud, go to the police.
- Use Block to stop someone messaging you; you will no longer see their posts either.
Your address and privacy
To ship, you will need to share an address. Share it only in the conversation, only once you have agreed the trade, and only what the parcel needs. Messages are private between the two of you, but they are not end-to-end encrypted, and a reviewer reads a conversation that is reported. See Privacy.
